Swindon Town vs Crawley Town: Match Preview

Swindon Town are back in action league two on Tuesday night under the floodlights with their re-arranged fixture against Crawley Town.

Swindon Town will be looking to bounce back after throwing away a 1-0 lead away from home against Colchester United who are scrapping and clawing away from the League Two drop zone. What makes this draw feel like a defeat on Saturday is that Swindon were playing against nine men and failed to capitalise on the chances created in the second half and in all honesty, it does feel like two points dropped. Colchester United capitalised on slack marking in stoppage time and took the opportunity with a priceless point

It does make me laugh that a small minority of fans are calling for Ben Garner head all ready and we are in the top seven in league two. A few negative results after a tough January losing players back to their parent club in the loan market and the fickle football fans rears its ugly head again. You just have to look at the bigger picture and see what is going to happen in the long run. The club are re-building after a tough season last season under a horrific owner and things take time. You have to take the rough with the smooth

Some good business from Swindon Town in the last few days of the transfer window with both Louie Barry and Brandon Cooper joining on loan for the rest of the season from Aston Villa and Swansea. Both exciting signings and will challenge the first team in attack and in defence.

Ben Garner today in pre-match press conference have confirmed that Mathieu Baudry is back in training and Jack Payne will be back in training later this week and could feature in the Exeter clash if not will be available for Tranmere or Scunthorpe United. Garner also confirmed that Tyreece Simpson and Kaine Kesler-Hayden will not be returning to the club. Quashed the rumours that was flying around over the weekend.

Predicted line up

3-5-1-1

Wollacott, O’Brien, Conroy, Odimayo, Hunt, Reed, Gladwin, Lyden, Iandolo, McKirdy, Davison.

Crawley Town are the visitors to SN1 in the re-arranged fixture from the November international break after Swindon Town had to postpone the game due to international call ups. Crawley are having a solid steady season in League Two under John Yems, Crawley are in League Two comfortability in 13th place with thirty-five points from twenty-six games.

Crawley form guide to start 2022 has been good. In the six games in the league played Crawley have won three lost two and drawn one.

Crawley started 2022 with two successive wins over Colchester United (3-1) and Northampton Town which was a fantastic 1-0 away win. Tom Nicholls a player who was on trial at Swindon Town in the summer of 2020 scoring the only goal of the game. What followed was one point from the next three games in a 1-1 draw at Carlisle United.

Then back to back defeats to Stevenage away from home and at home to Tranmere Rovers. Last weekend Crawley bounced back with a 2-1 away win over Bradford City. Veteran defender Tony Craig scoring a 95th minute winner for John Yems side and picking up their first win in three to end the month of January on a high.
