The Mitchell-Lawson Addition.

Ben Garner continues to bolster his ranks within the squad after completing the re-signing of academy product Jayden Mitchell-Lawson. The 21 Year old talented winger who was released by Derby County at the end of last season after a six year reign within the academy and first team of the Rams, was re-added to the squad by Ben Garner who he had previously worked with at Bristol Rovers in Garners reign with the Gas.

Mitchell-Lawson was a part of the academy setup, which involved Current Sheffield United Full-back Jayden Bogle, impressed and was quickly snapped up by the Championship outfit. The exciting Forward made his first team debut for Derby in March 2019 against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao cup.

Mitchell-Lawson proceeded to go out on loan to Bristol Rovers under Garner where he continued to make 14 Appearances and scored 2 goals during the loan spell.

The former Derby Man has become the Robins 17th summer signing. He’s another one of the younger talents within the squad following Mohammed Dabre and Ricky Aiguar signing on earlier in the window. Chorley, director of football at Swindon, stated ‘He is 21-years-old with great potential and knows what this club means to the community, the fans and to the staff that are now in place.’  Chorley added ‘Ben Garner has worked with Jayden before so knows his character, and we feel he brings a different dynamic to the squad. He is a player that came through our youth setup and we’re pleased to welcome him home.’ Chorley and Garner continue to build a Sustainable club where young players can come and develop their abilities.

My Personal Opinion,

I believe that the forward is a great signing for the town and a wonderful talent who will be a very valuable player for us in the future. He really suits Garners style and will get the fans on the edges of their seats. Adding an academy product to the ranks gives us a good vision of where the club is going. UP!
